Deanne Seitz is a Master ASL Instructor and Faculty member at Colorado State University (CSU), affiliated with the Department of Languages, Literatures and Culture within the College of Liberal Arts. She holds a M.Ed in Adult Education and specializes in teaching American Sign Language (ASL) and Deaf Culture. Her role includes developing curricula for ASL courses and the university’s interdisciplinary ASL Minor, for which she received the 2019 Distinction in Curricular Innovation Award.
She has taught in schools for the Deaf in the Southwest USA, Mexico, and Jamaica, emphasizing experiential learning through humor and energy. Courses she teaches include introductory ASL, Deaf culture analysis, and ASL for professionals in healthcare and education. Beyond academia, she volunteers in the local ASL community, mentors educational interpreters, and fosters dogs.
