Chen Kaiwen

Kaiwen Chen is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at the National University of Singapore's Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. His research investigates innate immune mechanisms, particularly how inflammation is initiated and regulated through cell death pathways during microbial infection.

His laboratory studies pyroptosis, apoptosis, and necroptosis in host defense against pathogens, focusing on how these processes are subverted by microbes. Recent work examines gasdermin proteins as executors of inflammatory cell death and their role in antibacterial immunity.

Dr. Chen's publications appear in high-impact journals including Cell Reports, Nature Cell Biology, and PNAS. His research program aims to uncover novel therapeutic targets for infectious and inflammatory diseases by elucidating molecular mechanisms of host-pathogen interactions.
