Dr. Chelsea Faase is a Teaching Assistant Professor in the Department of Leadership, Literacy, and Social Foundations at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. She holds a Ph.D. in Urban Education (Curriculum and Instruction) from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (2019), an M.S. in Education from UW-Oshkosh (2013), and a B.A. in Elementary/Middle Education from St. Norbert College (2008), with minors in English, Spanish, and ESL.

Her research focuses on strategies to motivate adolescents in literacy activities, inclusive texts, and culturally relevant pedagogy. She advocates expanding literacy education to meet diverse learners' needs. With 12 years in K-8 education, she specialized in 4th-grade general education and middle school English Language Arts, emphasizing collaborative co-teaching with special educators. She integrated picture books to foster empathy and excitement for reading, notably through the 180 Picture Book Challenge. Her teaching philosophy centers on nurturing student curiosity and empowering self-directed learning.
