Linda Haling

Linda Haling is a Professor and Graduate Coordinator for Teaching and Learning Leadership, Literacy, and Social Foundations at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh (UW Oshkosh), where she has been employed since July 2018. Previously, she served at Illinois State University from 2005, holding a position in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction. She holds an Ed.D. in Curriculum and Instruction (2005), a Master's in Reading (1996), and a Bachelor's in English (1993), all from Illinois State University.

Her expertise spans Reading Assessment, Adolescent Literacy, Adolescent Literature, and Middle School Education, with recent research integrating Technology into these areas. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes collaboration, reflection, and student responsibility in learning. She boasts 6 years of P-12 teaching experience, including roles as a reading specialist and language arts instructor for grades 7-8.

Linda's scholarship focuses on independent reading, adolescent literacy literature, and reading assessment, with emerging work on technology’s impact on these domains. She teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in reading and middle-level education, blending practical and theoretical approaches.
