Professor Cheila Eirini serves as Professor of International Politics at the University of Piraeus's Department of International & European Studies. She also holds a Visiting Scholar position at George Washington University's Elliott School of International Affairs. With a 26-year teaching career at the Panteion University, she has held leadership roles including Department Chair and Research Director of joint Master's programs with the Hellenic National Defense School. Her academic career includes visiting fellowships at Princeton University, King's College London, and the German Institute for International and Security Affairs (SWP).
Her research focuses on international relations theory, foreign policy analysis, and Greek foreign policy. Notable works include analyses of the 2010 Greek economic crisis's impact on foreign policy, UN dynamics during the junta era, and post-Arab Spring Mediterranean challenges. Recent projects explore the concept of 'international community' through Syrian/Ukraine crises lenses and Venizelos' foreign policy in Balkan Wars context.
Teaching expertise spans international conflicts, multilateral diplomacy, and Greek foreign policy history. She has delivered key lectures at universities in North America and Europe on topics like 'Greek Foreign Policy Dilemmas Post-2010 Crisis' and 'EU-Greece Relations Post-Crisis'. Currently finalizing two monographs on international community challenges and Greek foreign policy historical perspectives (projected 2020 publication).
