Charol Shakeshaft

Charol Shakeshaft, Ph.D., is a Professor in the Department of Educational Leadership at Virginia Commonwealth University's School of Education. Her research focuses on gender equity, educator sexual misconduct prevention, and technology effectiveness in education. She has authored four books and over 200 refereed articles, many award-winning, and holds two AERA awards and the Effie H. Jones Humanitarian Award. Dr. Shakeshaft leads a $1.2M CDC-funded project on preventing educator misconduct and has pioneered immersive simulations for principal training. She is president of Women Leading in Education Across Continents and mentors undergraduate researchers in equity-focused studies.
