Dr. Abigail H. Conley is an Associate Professor of Counselor Education at Virginia Commonwealth University's School of Education. She serves as the master’s program coordinator and track coordinator for the College Counseling and Student Affairs M.Ed. program. Her research focuses on Interpersonal Violence (IPV) prevention, wellness, spiritual diversity, and program evaluation. She is an editor-in-chief of Counseling and Values and co-author of Wellness Counseling: A Holistic Approach. Dr. Conley collaborates with VCU’s Office of Equity and Access Services on the annual Campus Climate Survey on Sexual Violence and Bystander Behavior.
Education: Ph.D., North Carolina State University; M.A., Lewis & Clark College; B.A., Wake Forest University.
Research Highlights: Examines alcohol use and assault victimization patterns in university students, evaluates interventions like the Red Flag Campaign for sexual violence prevention, and explores the role of masculinity in violence prevention through the documentary My Masculinity Helps. Her work emphasizes trauma-informed responses to survivors and the impact of social support on revictimization.
Awards: 2019 Survivor Solidarity Award, 2016 SOE Outstanding Community Engagement Award, and others recognizing her teaching and community engagement.
