Dr. Charlotte Scott is a Lecturer in Psychology at the University of Derby's School of Psychology, part of the College of Health, Psychology and Social Care. She holds a PhD from Loughborough University (2019) and has prior roles at the University of Nottingham and the University of Northampton. Her research focuses on disordered eating behaviors, nature connectedness interventions, and athlete wellbeing. She supervises PhD students in eating behavior-related projects and teaches research methods and psychology courses.
Dr. Scott's research explores protective and risk factors for disordered eating, including emotion regulation and social influences. She has published widely on teammate influences in athlete populations and the impact of exercise on cognitive function. Professional memberships include the British Psychological Society and the Higher Education Authority.
Her recent work includes developing nature-based interventions for disordered eating and analyzing media portrayals of body image. Awards include Fellow of the Higher Education Authority and Chartered Psychologist status. Supervision includes three current PhD students focusing on nature interventions and eating behaviors.
