Charlie Murphy

Charlie Murphy is a Senior Lecturer in Photography at Kingston University's Department of Film and Photography within the Kingston School of Art. Murphy's creative practice spans photography, video, sculpture, and participatory installations, often exploring the psychological dimensions of light and perception.

Her research investigates photographic phenomena and the relationship between two/three-dimensional representation. Notable projects include 'The Anatomy of Desire' (1999-2011) involving participatory 'kiss-in' events and glass sculptures, and 'Brains in a Dish' collaborations exploring art-science intersections.

Murphy has exhibited internationally at venues including The Lowry, Wellcome Collection, Science Museum London, and Venice Biennale. She regularly presents on interdisciplinary approaches bridging art, science, and public engagement.
