Dana Freeman, M.F.A., is a full-time Professor and Chair of Art at Aquinas College since 1993. She holds an M.F.A. from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and a B.A. from Pomona College. Her work spans sculpture, photography, video, and installation art.
- Education: M.F.A. (University of California, 1992), B.A. (Pomona College, 1981)
Freeman's research explores concept-driven art using non-traditional materials like eggshells, bread, and sand. Themes include existential reflection, cultural preservation, and the intersection of domestic and industrial processes.
Her recent works (2015-2023) focus on ecological metaphors, glass book sculptures, and digital photography. Earlier pieces (1992-2009) incorporate participatory rituals, material comparisons, and subconscious themes.
Notable exhibitions include 'My Alchemy' (2023), Urban Institute for Contemporary Art (2018), and 'Landscape Reliquary' (2015). Freeman's practice bridges physical materials with philosophical inquiry.
