Charles Musselwhite is Professor and Head of the Department of Psychology at Aberystwyth University, holding the departmental Chair in Psychology. He co-directs two major research centers: the Centre for Ageing and Dementia Research (CADR) and the Transport and Health Integrated Research Network (THINK). With over 65 peer-reviewed articles, 26 book chapters, and 5 books, his research integrates social, environmental, and health psychology to examine relationships between built environments, transportation systems, and aging populations.
Research Focus:
1. Environmental Gerontology: Examines safety for older road users, driving cessation, and creating age-friendly neighborhoods.
2. Transport & Health: Investigates psychosocial aspects of mobility, including public transport accessibility and health equity.
His projects have secured over £26m in funding, including Welsh Government-backed initiatives on dementia policy and integrated transport-health research.
