Andrea Tales

Professor Andrea Tales holds a Personal Chair in Dementia and Neurocognition at Swansea University, affiliated with the School of Health and Social Care and Department of Public Health. She serves as Director of the Innovative Aging Center, Co-director of the Center for Aging and Dementia Research (CADR), and former Director of the Awen Foundation. Her career spans over two decades in aging and dementia research.

• Research focuses on mild/subjective cognitive impairment, Alzheimer's disease, vascular cognitive decline, and evidence-based healthcare
• Key methodological interests: psychophysics, attentional processing, information processing speed

Recent publications (2021-2025) address metacognition in autobiographical memory, autistic traits in aging, fortified food perceptions, and healthcare access during pandemics. She has supervised numerous PhD students and collaborates on intergenerational dementia care and sensory interventions.
