Professor Susan Kurrle is a leading academic in geriatric medicine and dementia research at the University of Sydney, holding the Curran Chair in Health Care of Older People within the Faculty of Medicine and Health's Northern Clinical School. She is Director of the Cognitive Decline Partnership Centre (CDPC), a national initiative focused on improving care for individuals with cognitive and functional decline. Her clinical roles include geriatrician at Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital and Batemans Bay/Moruya Hospitals, and Clinical Director of Aged Care and Rehabilitation for Northern Sydney Local Health District.
Her research spans dementia care, frailty, and aging-related health challenges, with a focus on translational research and clinical implementation. Key projects include developing memory assessment programs, telehealth services in rural areas, and national guidelines for memory clinics. She has secured significant funding, including a $25M NHMRC Partnership Centre grant in 2012.
