Associate Professor Charles Lau serves as Deputy Head of the Department of Supply Chain and Logistics Management at RMIT University's School of Accounting, Information Systems and Supply Chain. With over 30 years of experience across private, government, and academic sectors, his research focuses on sustainable development, circular supply chains, green logistics, and index development. He leads the RMIT Sustainable Procurement Disclosure Index project and collaborates on the RACE for 2030 initiative for energy-efficient housing. His teaching interests include supply chain optimization, GIS spatial modeling, and logistics management.
Key research projects include supply chain rationalization in developing countries, digital transformation for green innovation, and resilience in pharmaceutical supply chains. Lau has published extensively in top-tier journals like Transportation Research Part E and International Journal of Production Economics. He supervises research projects on topics ranging from circular practices in agriculture to academic library modernization.
Professional involvement includes membership in the Supply Chain and Logistics Association of Australia (SCLAA). His work bridges academia and industry, addressing challenges in supply chain sustainability, resilience, and operational efficiency.
