Charles Hulme is a Professor of Psychology and Education at the University of Oxford (2017–present). He previously held academic appointments at University College London (2011–2016) and the University of York (1978–2011), where he served as Lecturer, Reader, and Professor of Psychology, including a term as Head of Department (1997–2001).
His research focuses on reading, memory, and language processes, particularly their development and associated disorders. He has received significant recognition, including the Spearman Medal from the British Psychological Society and the Feitelson Research Award for his work on early reading interventions.
Grants supporting his research have been funded by major organizations such as the MRC, ESRC, Wellcome Trust, Nuffield Foundation, and ERC. He has authored 4 books, edited 5 books, and published approximately 190 journal articles.
