Chao Yin is a Senior Lecturer in Finance at the University of Edinburgh Business School and Programme Director for the MSc Finance. He has held academic positions at Durham University (Assistant Professor, 2020-2022) and the University of Reading (Assistant Professor, 2017-2020). His research bridges traditional corporate finance with interdisciplinary topics like ESG, sustainable finance, and cultural heritage in leadership.

Current projects include "Creditworthiness and Energy Efficiency: Insights from Scottish SMEs" (2025-2025).
His recent publications explore carbon leakage through cross-border M&A, credit derivatives, political uncertainty impacts on CSR, and the role of CEOs' ancestral origins in forced turnovers. Thematic keywords include environmental economics, corporate governance, and behavioral finance.
Dr. Yin serves as a peer reviewer for the Journal of Chinese Economic and Business Studies and holds a Chinese Legal Practitioner License. He currently does not plan to recruit new PhD students but supports visiting scholars with strong academic backgrounds.
