معرفی
Chantale Simard is a Full Professor at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Université Laval, where she serves as Vice-Dean of Studies and Student Affairs and Director of the Undergraduate Doctoral Program in Pharmacy. Her work integrates academic leadership, teaching, and research in pharmaceutical sciences with a focus on clinical pharmacology and drug metabolism.
- Bachelor of Pharmacy, Université Laval
- Master’s in Hospital Pharmacy, Université Laval
- Doctorate in Pharmaceutical Sciences (Pharmacology Option), University of Montreal
- Postdoctoral Studies in Clinical Pharmacology, Vanderbilt University, USA
Her research centers on the variability of drug response, particularly how pathophysiological states affect biotransformation processes. Key areas include pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics, cardiovascular pharmacology, pharmacogenomics, and the role of cytochrome P450 enzymes in disease models such as diabetes and cardiorenal syndrome. She leads undergraduate research courses including PHA-2048, PHA-1151, and PHA-2171, and is actively involved in training future pharmacists and researchers.
Analysis of her recent publications from 2003 to 2024 reveals a strong trajectory in clinical and experimental pharmacology, with emphasis on drug metabolism, therapeutic monitoring, and personalized dosing. Her work spans from analytical method development to systemic reviews on drug safety and transitions in palliative care, indicating interdisciplinary engagement. She frequently collaborates with experts in cardiology and critical care, particularly on aminoglycoside dosing and cardiac side effects of neurological drugs.
Her scientific recognition includes:
- Teacher of the Year 2018–2019 for the 1st year cohort
- Clinical Research Fellow, Junior 2 (FRSQ) (2011–2015)
She has been involved in advising and course leadership rather than formal graduate student supervision, based on available data. Her work has been supported by research grants, including from FRSQ, and she contributes to institutional research governance as the Responsible for the Research Profile. She is not associated with a named laboratory but is embedded in collaborative research teams focusing on clinical pharmacology and drug safety.
