Chantal Norrgard

Chantal Norrgard is an Associate Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Superior, affiliated with the Human Behavior, Justice & Diversity department under Indigenous Studies and History. Her research focuses on Native American and Indigenous studies, treaty rights, labor history and activism, and Ojibwe history.

Her work examines intersections of settler colonialism, Indigenous labor, and social citizenship, often contextualizing historical events like the Fraser River Fishermen’s Strike of 1893 and the Great Fire of 1918. Publications highlight treaty rights activism, economic transformations, and environmental policies affecting Indigenous communities.
