Chandra Giroux is a Lecturer in Classics & Religious Studies at the University of Ottawa. She holds a PhD in Ancient History from McGill University (supervised by Hans Beck and Darian Totten), an M.A. in Classics from the University of Ottawa (thesis on Plutarch’s morality), and an M.A. in Greek and Roman Archaeology from Newcastle University (thesis on the Erechtheion). Her research focuses on Plutarch’s works, cultural connections in the Roman Empire, and Boiotian cultural identity. She teaches courses such as Intermediate Latin and Introduction to Greek Literature.

Research Interests: Plutarch, ancient historiography, cultural memory, Dark Tourism, archaeology of Boiotia, and ancient religious practices. Recent publications explore Plutarch’s omissions in Chaironeia, Boiotian cultural identity, and intertextual readings of Theseus’ bones in Plutarch’s writings.
Professional Activities: Organized the 2020 workshop Plutarch: Cultural Practice in a Connected World in Münster, Germany. Active in academic outreach, including syllabus design and Greek/Latin tutoring initiatives.
