Chance W. Lewis is the Carol Grotnes Belk Distinguished Professor of Urban Education and Director of The Urban Education Collaborative at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. He joined the faculty in 2011 after earning his Ph.D. in Educational Leadership/Teacher Education from Colorado State University (2001). His work focuses on academic achievement of students of color, Black male teacher recruitment/retention, and urban education transformation.
