Dr. Andrea Lewis is an Associate Professor of Education and Director of the Student Success Program at Spelman College, where she has served since 2009. She also chairs the College Completion Action Team, co-chairs the Campus Assessment Response and Evaluation Team, and co-directs International Prestigious Fellowships.

Dr. Lewis specializes in teacher preparation, urban education, and social class dynamics in schools, with a focus on Black girls in White educational spaces. Her work emphasizes cultural competence, global awareness, and equity in educational systems.
Her publications trend toward urban teacher training, cultural relevance in pedagogy, and socioeconomic/racial intersections in education. Awards include recognition from the National Alumnae Association of Spelman College, United Negro College Fund, and National Coalition of 100 Black Women. She organized Spelman’s first faculty-led trips to Cuba (2015-2023) to study educational systems through historical, economic, and political lenses.
