Anisah Nu’Man, Ph.D., serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics at Spelman College, where she has been a faculty member since 2019. A native of Atlanta and Spelman alumna, she contributes to undergraduate mathematics education at this historically Black liberal arts college for women.
Her academic credentials include:
- Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln
- B.S. in Mathematics from Spelman College
Dr. Nu’Man specializes in geometric group theory, which examines algebraic structures through geometric and topological methods, and anti-Ramsey theory, a combinatorial field analyzing coloring constraints to avoid rainbow substructures. Her research bridges abstract algebra and discrete mathematics, with potential applications in computational complexity and network theory. These niche areas represent specialized intersections within pure mathematics that advance foundational theoretical frameworks.
As a faculty member, she mentors undergraduate researchers in mathematical exploration while teaching core curriculum courses. Her position as a Spelman alumna strengthens institutional continuity and provides relatable role modeling for mathematics students pursuing advanced degrees.
