Chad Reichert is a Professor in the Department of Visual Development at the College for Creative Studies (CCS) in Detroit, Michigan. He holds an MFA from Minneapolis College of Art and Design and a BSFA from Valparaiso University. His work bridges design practice, education, and social impact.
His research and professional interests center on typography, type design, motion design, and branding, with a strong commitment to social impact and graphic design history. He integrates design thinking and creative problem-solving into both his studio practice and pedagogy.
Chad has contributed significantly to design education through national and international lectures, curatorial work, and publication. He was a contributor to the book Teaching Motion Design and curated the international exhibitions Revolution:Evolution and Bleed, Lead, Kern. His work has been recognized by AIGA, ACD, and CASE.
As an active leader in the design community, he served as President of AIGA Detroit, where he championed the legacy of Michigan’s graphic design heritage. He has been a visiting lecturer at institutions such as Drake University and FH Joanneum in Graz, Austria.
Chad is the founder of spirit3design, a studio serving clients like Ann Arbor Christian School and Suffering to Feed People, and co-founder of spirit3foundation, a nonprofit addressing food insecurity. His approach emphasizes ethical design and community engagement.
He has presented at major forums including TypeCon, Design Incubation Colloquium, and the Motion Design Education Summit, reflecting his influence in both academic and professional design circles.
