Celine Valery is an Associate Professor at the University of New South Wales within the Faculty of Medicine & Health, specializing in pharmaceutical sciences and nanotechnology. With an international career spanning France, Spain, New Zealand, and Australia since 2014, she bridges academic research and industry applications in drug development.
Education:
- PhD in Pharmacy, University of Paris-Saclay, France
- Chemical Engineer, Ecole Centrale de Marseille, France
- Master of Science in Physical Chemistry, University of Aix-Marseille III, France
Her research expertise centers on pharmaceutical nanoscience with focus areas including peptide/protein drug discovery, development of nano-drugs against diseases, and novel drug delivery systems. Valery's work spans from fundamental research to practical translation into pharmaceutical products, particularly targeting antibiotics and anticancer treatments through nanotechnology approaches. She has made significant contributions to therapeutic peptide development and pharmaceutical formulation science.
Valery actively supervises research projects in peptide drug discovery, protein aggregation in pharmaceutical formulations, and peptide-based biomaterials including hydrogels and aerogels. Her research is supported by both industry partnerships and national funding sources in Australia.
Notable Achievements:
- Co-inventor of three patents for new medications
- Creator of two highly viewed TED-Ed educational videos on pharmacology
- Selected participant in the Homeward Bound Projects expedition to Antarctica (January 2025) focusing on women in science leadership
As an educator, she teaches pharmaceutics in pharmaceutical medicine and pharmacy programs, and advocates strongly for diversity and inclusion in science. Her interdisciplinary work connects chemistry, biophysics, pharmacology, and nanoscience to address critical healthcare challenges through innovative drug development approaches.
