Peter Moyle

Associate Professor Peter Moyle is based at The University of Queensland School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, where he leads research in medicinal chemistry, chemical biology, and drug formulation since 2014. His work focuses on improving therapeutic delivery systems for peptides, proteins, and oligonucleotides (e.g., siRNA, CRISPR-Cas9) and developing subunit vaccines against infectious diseases like Group A Streptococcus.

• Education: PhD and Bachelor of Pharmacy (Hons I) from The University of Queensland; pre-registration pharmacist training (Pharmacy Board of Australia).

Research Areas include:

• Subunit vaccine development using synthetic and recombinant methods
• Targeted delivery systems for nucleic acid therapeutics
• Deciphering post-translational modification roles via protein semisynthesis
• Engineering peptide/protein drugs to overcome stability and absorption challenges
• Antivirulence strategies for superbugs using nanoparticles

Recent Publications highlight advancements in CRISPR delivery, mesoporous silica nanoparticles, and cyclic antimicrobial peptide synthesis.

Scientific Awards include the HABS faculty commendation (2016), ChemMedChem top-cited recognition (2015), and NHMRC development grant (2014).

Teaching contributions: Course coordinator for Quality Use of Medicines (PHRM3011); teaches Integrated Pharmaceutical Development (PHRM4021) and Drug Discovery (PHRM2040).
