Celeste Greer is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Molecular Pharmacology and Neuroscience at Loyola University Chicago’s Stritch School of Medicine. Her research focuses on understanding transcriptional mechanisms underlying learning, memory formation, and neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s. She holds a PhD in Pharmacology from Yale University and a B.S. in Neuroscience from Bowling Green State University.
Dr. Greer’s lab investigates RNA polymerase II pausing dynamics during neuronal activity, histone modification impacts on gene expression, and transcriptional dysregulation in neurodevelopmental disorders. Collaborative studies with postmortem brain tissue analysis and drug screening aim to identify therapeutic targets for Alzheimer’s and related conditions.
- Key Awards: NIH/NIMH K01 Award
- Lab Members: Brian, Myo, Camila, Aishu
- Recent Achievements: 2024 preprint on HEXIM1 and Alzheimer’s pathology, Camila’s award-winning poster at St. Albert’s Day
Her work integrates molecular biology, bioinformatics, and behavioral assays to bridge basic science and translational medicine.
