Catriona Kennedy is a Reader in Modern History at the Department of History, University of York. She specializes in Irish and British history during the long eighteenth century, with a focus on gender, radicalism, confessional relations, and warfare. Her recent book, Women, Politics, and the Irish Public Sphere in the Age of Revolution (Oxford University Press, 2025), redefines women's engagement with revolutionary politics in Ireland.

Her research explores marginalized groups' perspectives, such as soldiers in the Napoleonic Wars, women's political agency, and domestic servants in penal-era Ireland. She is currently working on her third monograph, Master and Servant in Eighteenth-Century Ireland, funded by a Leverhulme Research Fellowship (2020-2021).
Catriona's publications highlight intersections between military conflicts, gendered identities, and cultural memory.
