Michael Kerr is a Professor of Conflict Studies at King's College London, based in the School of Security Studies and Department of War Studies. He directs the MA in Conflict Resolution in Divided Societies and has extensive expertise in power-sharing mechanisms, ethnic conflict regulation, and peace processes in Northern Ireland, Lebanon, and Syria.

His research spans divided societies, consociational democracy, and civil war dynamics, with a focus on Northern Ireland's hunger strikes, Lebanon's confessional state, and Syrian politics. Recent projects examine Margaret Thatcher's handling of the Northern Ireland Troubles and revolutionary movements in Lebanon and Iran.
Professor Kerr's publications include six books and numerous chapters addressing power-sharing, peace processes, and post-conflict governance. His work contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) related to peace and justice.
Scientific awards include a Leverhulme Research Fellowship (2007-08). He collaborates with institutions across the Middle East and Europe and supervises PhD students on topics like Anglo-Irish relations and civil wars in Lebanon and Syria.
