Fionnuala Walsh is Associate Professor in Modern Irish History at University College Dublin's School of History. Her research specializes in women's experiences during the First World War and Irish Revolution, with expertise in gender history and social history methodologies.
Her award-winning book 'Irish Women and the Great War' examines women's welfare, employment, and political engagement during the conflict. Current research explores everyday life during revolutionary Ireland and American cultural influences on Irish society.
Walsh has received prestigious prizes including the NUI Publication Prize and the Sir Michael Howard Prize for military history. She serves as Director of Teaching and Learning and promotes inclusive pedagogy through Universal Design principles.
She supervises doctoral research on motherhood in modern Ireland and contributes to public history through media engagements and commemorative projects.
