Catherine Smith

Catherine Smith is an Adjunct Professor of Dermatology and Therapeutics at King’s College London’s St John’s Institute of Dermatology. She is also an NIHR Senior Investigator and a Consultant Dermatologist leading national specialized services for severe psoriasis and eczema at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust. Her research focuses on precision medicine strategies for inflammatory skin diseases, emphasizing data-driven and inclusive approaches. She collaborates nationally and internationally to advance guideline development and implementation in dermatology.

Her research interests include inflammatory skin diseases (psoriasis, eczema, acne), therapeutics, evidence-based medicine, and healthcare guideline development. Key contributions include genetic studies on psoriasis, single-cell analysis of disease mechanisms, and integrated care pathways for atopic dermatitis. She has secured grants from organizations like the Psoriasis Association and the NIHR.
