Catherine Sayer is an Associate Tutor in the Faculty of Social Sciences and a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the School of Psychology at the University of East Anglia. She holds a PhD in Psychology from UEA and contributes to research in developmental and cognitive psychology.

Her research focuses on children's cognitive development, particularly in understanding spatial reasoning, false belief tasks, and representational understanding. She explores the relationship between spatial correspondence and theory of mind.
Catherine's 2023 article in Developmental Psychology investigates whether spatial correspondence aids representational understanding, using experimental methods like the model room task. This work has been widely disseminated, appearing in 169 news outlets and attracting academic engagement.
