Debra Griffiths is a Lecturer in Psychology at the School of Psychology, University of East Anglia. She joined UEA in 2013 as an Experimental Officer after completing her PhD in Cognitive Neuroscience at Bangor University. Her research focuses on spatial representation, language-perception interactions, and motor system activation.
- BSc (Hons) in Psychology with Neuropsychology
- PhD in Cognitive Neuroscience from Bangor University
Her work explores the relationship between action and perception, particularly how spatial language influences memory encoding. She investigates peripersonal/extrapersonal space distinctions and virtual reality applications. Recent publications examine spatial demonstratives (2014), temporal-spatial cognition (2019), and developmental aspects of death understanding (2018).
Scientific Awards:
- 2015 British Psychological Society Cognitive Prize
She coordinates the international summer school course PSYCH Research Abroad and teaches modules in social/developmental psychology and research methods (PSY-5002A, PSY-5003Y). Responsibilities include managing the department's online SONA participant recruitment system.
