Flavia Cardini is a Lecturer and Course Leader in the Faculty of Science and Engineering at Anglia Ruskin University, specializing in the Psychology, Sport and Sensory Science school. Her research focuses on bodily self-representation, multisensory integration, and neural mechanisms underlying self-awareness. She employs behavioral, psychophysical, and EEG techniques to explore how conflicting sensory inputs influence body perception and social cognition.
Flavia holds a PhD in Cognitive Neuroscience (University of Bologna & UCL, 2011) and a PGCert in Higher Education (Anglia Ruskin, 2014). She teaches modules including Neuropsychology and Cognitive Psychology. Her work is part of the ARU Centre for Mind and Behaviour's Body and Self Group.
Key research interests include the role of self-representation in emotion processing and social categorization, as well as plastic changes in bodily perception during pregnancy. She has received grants from the BIAL Foundation, BA/Leverhulme, and others.
