Catherine’s research focuses on late medieval literature’s engagement with political, military, and rhetorical contexts. Her work explores the circulation and reception of fifteenth-century military manuals, Alain Chartier’s political writings in England, Malory’s Morte Darthur, and intersections of violence and emotion. Her monograph Reading and War in Fifteenth-Century England: From Lydgate to Malory (2012) and co-edited volumes (e.g., Chaucer and Fame, Boke of Noblesse, 2023) exemplify this focus.
Catherine’s publications highlight trends in fifteenth-century English literature, manuscript studies, and emotional histories. Her upcoming monograph on literary representations of battle speeches in late medieval England extends these explorations.
