Megan Leitch is a Professor and Chair of Medieval English Literature and Culture at the University of Groningen's Faculty of Arts, Department of English Historical Language and Literature. Previously, she held a Reader position at Cardiff University for 12 years. She earned her BA from the University of British Columbia, and MPhil/PhD from the University of Cambridge.
Her research integrates cultural studies with the history of science, medicine, and emotions, focusing on Middle English literature's intersections with law, gender, and manuscript studies. Notable works include Sleep and its Spaces in Middle English Literature (2021) and Romancing Treason: The Literature of the Wars of the Roses (2015). Current projects include a Leverhulme-funded monograph on medieval middlebrow culture and co-editing a volume on sleep and dreaming in medieval contexts.
- Editorial Roles: Co-editor of Arthurian Literature; past president of the International Arthurian Society (British Branch).
- Funding: Leverhulme Trust, SSHRC, HEFCW, and Welsh Crucible grants.
- Academic Networks: Visiting Fellow at St Catherine's College, Oxford; organizer of the 2018 Medieval Insular Romance conference.
Her advising focuses on Arthurian literature, medieval romance, and gender studies in Chaucer, Gower, and Lydgate. She welcomes PhD applications in these areas, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches to medieval textuality and cultural history.
