Dr. Mimi Ensley is an Assistant Professor in the Department of English at Flagler College. Her research focuses on medieval and early modern English literature, particularly the reception and transmission of medieval texts post-Reformation. She holds a PhD from the University of Notre Dame, an MA from the University of York, and a BA from the University of Georgia.
Her primary research interests include late medieval textual transmission, post-Reformation memory practices, and the intersection of book history with literary analysis. Her monograph Difficult Pasts: Post-Reformation Memory and the Medieval Romance (2023) explores how Middle English romances were reinterpreted in early modern England. Recent articles engage with topics like Piers Plowman's modern pedagogical applications, seventeenth-century textual adaptations of Lydgate, and early modern commonplace book practices.
Dr. Ensley has presented at major conferences including the New Chaucer Society Congress, Modern Language Association Convention, and International Congress on Medieval Studies. Her work bridges historical materialism with literary criticism, emphasizing how material texts shape cultural memory.
