Catherine Etmanski is a Professor at the School of Leadership Studies, Royal Roads University, specializing in socially and environmentally conscious leadership approaches. She has taught online since 2005 and served as School Director from 2016 to 2022. Prior to joining Royal Roads, she held teaching roles at the University of Victoria’s Faculty of Education and School of Public Administration, while also contributing to community development initiatives through UVic’s Office of Community-Based Research.

Her research integrates social and environmental justice with collaborative leadership models, adult learning frameworks, and community-based research methodologies. She has edited influential works such as Food Leadership, Adult Learning through Collaborative Leadership, and Learning and Teaching Community-Based Research, emphasizing actionable, equity-driven educational practices.
Etmanski’s career spans international contexts, including fieldwork and academic collaborations in India, Botswana, the Czech Republic, Fiji, and Japan. She actively engages with non-profits like the Martha Farrell Foundation Canada and the Institute for Child Rights and Development, blending academic rigor with grassroots advocacy.
