Jin-Sun Yoon is a Teaching Professor at the University of Victoria's School of Child and Youth Care, where she has been affiliated since 2002. She holds a BA and MEd from the University of British Columbia. Her career spans interdisciplinary work with children, youth, and families across mental health, human rights, immigrant/refugee support, and Indigenous communities, emphasizing intersectional praxis.
Her research focuses on intersectional diversity training, cultural identity development, and racialized settler/Indigenous relations. She integrates social justice and advocacy into pedagogy, inspiring students to address systemic inequities in community care contexts.
Leadership roles include chairing UVic’s Academic Women’s Caucus and advisory positions for the BC Ministry of Children and Family Development. She co-led the feminist grassroots network antidote: Multiracial and Indigenous Girls and Women’s Network and collaborated internationally with University College Copenhagen.
