Catherine Elliot is associated with the Department of Civil, Environmental and Geomatic Engineering at ETH Zurich, where she serves as a Researcher within the Professorship for Transport Planning. She holds a PhD in Education and Human Resource Studies from Colorado State University (2006-2010), an MA in Health and Physical Education from Adams State University (2005-2006), and a BS in Sport Management from York College of Pennsylvania (1999-2003). Her current role involves coordinating the 'E-Bike City: Designing sustainable streets' project since 2023.
Previously, she served as a Senior Lecturer at Lincoln University, New Zealand (2018–2023), and as a Research Assistant at the University of Basel (2011–2015). Her research focuses on sustainable transportation systems, particularly the integration of bicycles, e-bikes, cargo bikes, pedestrians, and micromobility in urban environments. She explores how these modes can reduce reliance on private vehicles and enhance eco-friendly urban landscapes.
Catherine’s work emphasizes the broader societal and environmental impacts of transportation choices, aiming to create socially connected and efficient cities. Her contributions include advancing strategies for sustainable street design and multimodal transport systems.
