Catherine Clark is a Professor and Faculty Director of the Center for the Advancement of Social Entrepreneurship (CASE) at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business. She also founded the CASE i3 Initiative on Impact Investing and co-leads the Social Entrepreneurship Accelerator at Duke (SEAD). Her research and teaching focus on social entrepreneurship, impact investing, and scaling ventures for social/environmental impact. Over 30 years, she has shaped global standards for B Corporations and impact metrics, influencing policies and markets.
- Education: MBA from Columbia Business School; BA from University of Virginia
Her work spans academia, policy, and practice, including roles as an impact investor at Flatiron Partners and grantmaker at the Markle Foundation. She co-authored The Impact Investor and developed the CASE Smart Impact Capital training series used globally. Her research has engaged 200+ institutions and 30+ MBA teams in impact investing projects worldwide.
Recognition includes leadership on the G8 Task Force on Social Impact Investing and White House initiatives under Obama. She actively uses social media (@cathyhc) to disseminate insights and collaborates with organizations like the Skoll Foundation and USAID.
