Dr. Carrie Simone Shemanko is a Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Calgary’s Faculty of Science. She leads the Shemanko Lab, focusing on molecular mechanisms underlying breast cancer metastasis and normal mammary gland development. Her research emphasizes prolactin signaling’s role in tumor-bone interactions, highlighted by collaborative international studies on breast cancer metastasis to bone. She co-founded the Breast Cancer to Bone (B2B) Metastasis Research Program and teaches advanced courses in cell biology.
