Carolyn Strom is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Early Childhood Literacy at the Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development, New York University. Her work bridges neuroscience research with instructional practices in early childhood education, focusing on marginalized groups. She leads the 'Cortex in the Classroom' initiative, promoting reading science and technology in NYC early education settings. Dr. Strom is a certified reading specialist and clinical practitioner addressing dyslexia in children.
Education: PhD in Early Literacy (NYU), MA in Reading Education (USC), BA in English (University of Pennsylvania).
Research interests include applying neuroscience to classroom practices, early literacy interventions, and equitable education technologies. Her publications appear in The Reading Teacher, The Reading League Journal, and The Handbook of Learning Disabilities.
Recipient of the 2023 NYU Steinhardt Teaching Excellence Award. Maintains a clinical practice in NYC for children with reading difficulties.
