Dr. Caroline Katsman is an Associate Professor in Physical Oceanography at the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Geosciences, Delft University of Technology. She also serves as a guest researcher at the Institute for Marine and Atmospheric Research Utrecht (IMAU) at Utrecht University.
- MSc in Meteorology and Physical Oceanography (1996, cum laude) from Utrecht University
- PhD from Utrecht University (2001) on wind-driven ocean circulation
Her research focuses on large-scale ocean circulation and its role in climate, including studies on ocean eddies, Labrador Sea circulation, ocean warming, and future sea level change. She has advised the Dutch government on coastal defense policy strategies based on regional sea level change scenarios.
Scientific awards:
- NWO-VIDI grant (2014) for studying ocean eddies' role in high-latitude climate change
