Caroline Katsman

Prof. Caroline Katsman is a Professor of Oceans & Climate at Delft University of Technology’s Civil Engineering & Geosciences faculty, specializing in large-scale ocean circulation and climate interactions. She holds affiliations with Utrecht University (guest researcher) and KNMI. Her research focuses on ocean currents’ role in climate systems, including sea level dynamics, water mass transformations, and climate modeling.

Education: PhD from Utrecht University (climate-related oceanography), with prior work at KNMI developing sea level rise scenarios. Awards include an NWO Vidi Grant (2013) for studying ocean eddies’ climate impacts.

Recent media engagements include discussions on Atlantic Ocean changes, climate transition science, and ocean heat regulation. She chairs consultations between Dutch climate centers and advises the KIN initiative, bridging fundamental climate science with societal applications.
