Caroline Dale Ditlev-Simonsen is a Professor at BI Norwegian Business School's Department of Law and Governance. She holds a PhD in Leadership and Organization from BI, an MA in Energy and Environmental Studies from Boston University, and a BA in Business Administration from Simon Fraser University. Her roles include Co-Director of the BI Centre for Sustainability and Energy, Head of BI Forum for Foundations, and former Board Member of WWF-Norway and the Norwegian Ethics Information Committee. Research focuses on sustainability, corporate social responsibility (CSR), non-financial reporting, and leadership in emerging markets.
Education highlights: PhD (2011), MA (1990), BA (1986). Professional experience spans roles at Storebrand ASA, Kvaerner ASA, and the Norwegian Pollution Control Authority. She has authored numerous books, including A Guide to Sustainable Corporate Responsibility (2022), and contributed to over 20 articles on sustainability frameworks, supply chain ethics, and CSR implementation. Her TED talk and podcasts emphasize actionable sustainability strategies and global equity.
Key achievements: Developed a six-step sustainability implementation model for businesses, advised on Norway’s Transparency Act (Åpenhetsloven), and pioneered CSR education through role-play methodologies. Current projects focus on circular economy, foundation accountability, and bridging gaps between corporate actions and societal expectations.
