Dr. Caroline Chilton is an Associate Professor at the School of Medicine, University of Leeds, and a member of the Healthcare Associated Infection (HCAI) Research Group. Her work focuses on the intersection of microbiology, antibiotic resistance, and gut microbiome dynamics, particularly in relation to Clostridium difficile infection (CDI). She contributes to undergraduate teaching in microbiology and supervises postgraduate researchers.
Research Interests:
- Investigating the role of the intestinal microbiota in healthcare-associated infections (HCAI)
- Antimicrobial resistance mechanisms and multi-drug resistant organisms (MDRO)
- In vitro modeling of gut ecosystems to study CDI and antibiotic impacts
