Dr. Caroline Cauchi is a Senior Lecturer in Creative Writing at the University of Hull, part of the School of Humanities. She holds a PhD from Liverpool John Moores University, alongside a BA (University of Liverpool) and MA (Manchester Metropolitan University). Her work combines academic research with creative writing, focusing on ethical storytelling, silenced historical voices, and feminist scholarship. She has authored multiple acclaimed novels, including Mrs Van Gogh and The Woman Who Went Over Niagara Falls in a Barrel, which explore marginalized women's narratives. Her research interrogates female agency in modernist movements and the ethical dimensions of writing real lives.
Dr. Cauchi’s academic contributions include exploring narrative innovation, UK publishing dynamics, and the adaptation of novels into film. She leads the Hull Literary Prize grant and welcomes PhD applications in creative writing, particularly in historical fiction and narrative ethics. Her awards include Heather’s Pick in Canada (2023) and the Raindance Film Festival’s Best UK Feature (2021) for The Drowning of Arthur Braxton.
