Carolin Müller-Spitzer

Carolin Müller-Spitzer is a professor and head of the 'Lexik empirisch und digital' program at the Leibniz Institute for the German Language. She holds an extraordinary professorship at the University of Mannheim and has served as a visiting professor at the University of Duisburg-Essen. Her research focuses on gender linguistics, empirical dictionary studies, and quantitative methods in lexical analysis. She earned her PhD in linguistics from Heidelberg University and completed her habilitation in 2016. Müller-Spitzer is a member of the editorial board of the International Journal of Lexicography and leads projects like 'Empirical Gender Linguistics.' Her work explores gender-neutral language, lexical change, and digital lexicography.
