Ulrike Hass

Prof. Ulrike Hass is a distinguished linguist affiliated with the University of Duisburg-Essen and the Institute for the German Language (IDS). She holds a professorship in German Linguistics and has extensive experience in lexicography, corpus linguistics, and historical linguistics. Her research focuses on German vocabulary, dictionary design, and the history of linguistic sciences. She previously served as Head of the Lexis Department at IDS and taught at the University of Mannheim.

Education: Studied German and History at Universities of Konstanz and Heidelberg, completed her doctorate (1985) and habilitation (1994) at Heidelberg. Awards include the Hugo Moser Prize. She led projects like the elexiko lexical information system and contributed to the IDS' lexical research initiatives.

Research emphasizes practical semantics, media history, and legal language analysis. Her work bridges traditional lexicography with digital tools, including corpus-based approaches and citizen science projects.
