Meike Meliss

Meike Meliss is an Associate Professor in German Grammar and Linguistics at the Department of English and German Philology, Faculty of Philology, University of Santiago de Compostela (USC), Spain. She is a member of the Humboldt research group (GI-1920-USC) and the Galician lexicographic network RELEX, and holds an ORCID ID: 0000-0003-0380-8905. She has held visiting professorships at several European universities, including Lisbon, Mannheim, Marburg, and Salzburg.

Her research focuses on contrastive linguistics (German-Spanish), lexicology, lexicography, and second language acquisition, particularly German as a foreign language (DaF). She employs corpus-based methodologies and has led major research projects such as LeGeDe (Lexik des gesprochenen Deutsch) and DICONALE (conceptual bilingual dictionary). Meike Meliss has supervised bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral theses, particularly in lexicology and corpus-based linguistics. She has led externally funded projects, including the LeGeDe project (2016–2019) at the Leibniz Institute for the German Language in Mannheim, where she directed research on spoken German.
